Lika H. Mahdi, Shatha Ali Shafiq*, Amel Kadhem Galoob, Sahira Nsayif Muslem

ABSTRACT

The current study included isolation and identification some pathogens from mouth and teeth and included the Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes and Candida albicans and test the effect of each of the ethanolic 70% extract and flavenoids extract of Moringa oleifera Lam.in different concentrations (1000, 500, 250, 125) μg/ml on these pathogens. The results showed that flavenoids extract had antimicrobial against these isolates higher than ethanolic 70% extract in all concentrations specially at 1000 μg /ml with diameter means of inhibition zones (27, 30, 35) mmeter for Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogeness Respectively compared with ethanolic 70 % extract (22, 29, 32) mm respectively with significant differences at p˂ 0.05. The isolates of Streptococcus pyogeness were more sensitive among tested isolates. The consequences of this investigation suggest that the extracts of M. oleifera Lam. can be used to discover antibacterial agent for developing new pharmaceuticals to control studied human pathogenic bacteria responsible for severe illness.

Keywords: Streptococcus pyogenes, Candida albicans, pathogens.
