Abstract

NANOPRECIPITATION TECHNIQUE EMPLOYED FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF NANOSUSPENSION: A REVIEW

Jasdeep Hitanga*, Neha Sharma, Hitesh Chopra, Dr.Sandeep Kumar

ABSTRACT

Solubility is the prominent feature for desired therapeutic response of any drug. But low water solubility leads a major drawback in acquiring a desired bioavailability of above 50% of recently discovered drugs. Poorly aqueous soluble drugs show many complications in formulating them in conventional dosage forms. One of the critical problems associated with poorly soluble drugs is too low bioavailability. Size reduction in Nano-range considered as a boon for these aqueous insoluble drugs. Nanosuspensions have emerged as a promising strategy for the efficient delivery of aqueous insoluble drugs over polymeric colloidal carriers of drugs i.e. nanospheres and nanocapsules. Nanosuspensions are formed by bottom up, top down and precipitation methods. Out of them nanoprecipitation method is chosen because of its mildness, ease, simplicity and lower energy consumption. Nanoprecipitation method is also known as solvent displacement method and as well as antisolvent precipitation method.

Keywords: Solubility, Nano-size, Nanosuspensions, Nanoprecipitation.
