ABSTRACT

Molecular imprinted technology is a synthetic approach that is used to design artificial receptors with a predetermined selectivity and specificity for a given analyte. Molecularly imprinted polymers were prepared by bulk polymerization using different solvents (methanol, acetonitrile, ethylacetate, chloroform) in which itaconic acid was used as functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethylacrylate as crosslinker and AIBN as initiator. MIPs synthesized using methanol as solvent are the best as MIPs have high binding capacity for the template molecule and its imprinting factor is 2.59 which is higher than the other MIPs.

Keywords: quercetin, molecular imprinting polymers, HPLC.
