Abstract

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF MICROWAVE ASSISTED AND CONVENTIONAL METHOD OF SILVER NANOPARTICLES SYNTHESIZED FROM CELL SUPERNATANT OF Bacillus subtilus

ABSTRACT

Objective: To synthesize silver nanoparticles from culture supernatant of Bacillus subtilis by Conventional and Microwave assisted Method. The synthesized Silver nanoparticles were further characterized and compared for their biological activity. Methods: The silver nanoparticles were synthesized by two methods from the culture supernatant of Bacillus subtilis following conventional method (CM) and microwave (MW) assisted method. The nanoparticles were characterized using UV-Visible Spectroscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis. The antibacterial activity for the sliver nanoparticles was done by well diffusion method. Cytotoxicity was studied by MTT assay and the DPPH assay was performed to determine the antioxidant property of the nanoparticles. The acute toxicity studies were carried out using young Zebrafish. Results: The sizes of the sliver nanoparticles synthesized by conventional and microwave assisted methods were 25-50 nm. The nanoparticles were exhibited more bactericidal, anticancer and antioxidant activity. Acute toxicity studies stated that the nanoparticles were exhibited no toxicity towards the Zebra young fishes. Conclusion: This results shows that the nanoparticles produced by microwave assisted method have more or less similar properties to the conventional synthesis of nanoparticles.These results concluded that the microwave assisted sliver nanoparticles production is an efficient, reliable and time saving method for synthesis of nanoparticles.
