Abstract

IMPACT OF MOLASSES-SOIL BLENDS ON THE GROWTH OF SOYABEAN PLANT (GLYCINE MAX.)

Thakare P. B.*, Pokale W. K., Chandhari M. D. and Thakare Y. G.

ABSTRACT

The physico-chemical characterizations of diluted molasses (about 1gm per litre of water), three different soils and irrigation water were studied. The growth of soyabean plants was studied in 0%, 0.2%, 0.5%, 1.0%, 1.5% etc diluted molasses- soil blends. Growth of plants was monitored regularly after every month up to three months when they become fully maturated from the date of sowing for control as well as for blended soils in rainy (June’09-sept.’09) and winter(Jan’10- Mar’10) seasons. The overall plant growth and maximum number of fruits were found at 1.0% for S1 and 0.5% for S2 and S3 in rainy season and at 0.5% for all the three soils in winter. Thus, the present study concluded that the industrial wastes like molasses could be used in agriculture after dilution and by proper blending with soil for better plant growth and yield.
