An study involving the resistance pattern observed among the E. Coli bacteria towards the antibiotics commonly in use, by encompassing details of 1000 patients from Khammam district of Telangana state. The work done reveals that the infection is high in children aged below 5 years and particularly the new born, followed by 5 – 10 year old where the infection observed were 45.2% and 27.8% respectively. Indicating the vulnerable paediatric population. The female population (71%) with reference to the occurrence of infection outnumbered the male (29%) population. The infection recorded were very high in the blood sample followed by the urine sample. The involvement of E. Coli in developing an infection was the highest with 63.3% rate of incidence. The most effective or sensitive drug was Cefoperazone + Sulbactum indicated with the 13.59% resistance followed by the drugs Nitrofurantoin (16.44%) and cefuroxime (31.43%). The highly ineffective drugs were Erythromycin with 83.02% and Amikacin with 75.66%.
