A REVIEW BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY OF ACHYRANTHES ASPERA LINN AND PHYTOCONSTITUENTS

Abstract Herbal medicines are widely used since time immemorial indicating that herbs are a growing part of modern, high-tech medicine. India has an ancient heritage of traditional herbal medicine for safety and effectiveness. A lot of literature reviews about Achyranthes aspera Linn has been published previously. From the review of the literature on this plant we found that this plant is known for systems of medicine in the treatment of cancer, leprosy, asthma, fistula, piles, arthritis, wound, insect and snake bite, dandruff, hepatitis, renal disorders, dermatological disorders, Neuropharmacological disorders, gynaecological disorders, gonorrhoea, malaria, fever, cough, diabetes, pyorrhoea, dysentery, opthalmia, rabies, hysteria, toothache etc. A. aspera is widely studied for its medicinal properties and reported to have antimicrobial, larvicidal, antifertility, anticanerous, immunostimulant, hypoglycaemic, hypolipidemic, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, diuretic, anti-obesity, cardiac stimulant, antihypertensive, anti-anasacra, analgesic, antipyretic, Anti-Spermicidal antinoiceptive, prothyrodic, antispasmodic, anxiolytic and hepatoprotective. And also the new (hidden) pharmacological actions of Achyranthes aspera phytoconstituents using in-silico tool like PASS online.
