A REVIEW ON THE CHEMISTRY AND PHARMACOLOGICAL POTENTIALS OF BENZOXAZOLE & ITS DERIVATIVES
Shruti Shukla*, Amrita Singh and Abhinav Prasoon Mishra
. Abstract In both the chemical and biological sciences, heterocyclic molecules play a crucial role. More than 75% of the top 200 pharmaceuticals are from the heterocyclic family. Many biologically active compounds can be broken down into a series of simple and subordinate heterocyclic containing nitrogen, oxygen, and oxazole moieties. This review focused on the unfolding the benzoxazole derivatives in terms of their chemistry and biological activities. Benzoxazole is a heterocyclic molecule having a benzene-fused oxazole ring structure; its chemical name is 1-Oxa-3-aza-1H-indene. In 1887, Hantzsch was the first to present this chemical. Benzoxazole has the chemical formula C7H5NO, the molar mass of 119.12 g/mol, and the melting and boiling temperatures of 27- 30°C and 182°C, respectively. Because of its many applications in medicine and biology, benzoxazole and its derivatives are regarded as a foundational class of bioactive chemicals. Many recent studies have been confirmed for the biological properties including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antifungal, antiviral, as COX enzyme inhibitor, anticonvulsant, anthelmintic, anti-HIV, antioxidant, anti-atherosclerosis. Despite those activities, some like anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and anti-convulsant have got special attention for the research and development. It concludes that benzoxazole has become a highly promising moiety for the therapy of various diseases and illnesses. Keywords: Benzoxazole, Pharmacological properties, Anticancer, Anti-inflammatory Anti-convulsant. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
