YOGIC RELAXATION AND MEDITATION- AYURVEDIC KEY SOLUTION TO PRIMARY DYSMENORRHEA
Dr. Samidha Sharma*, Dr. Durgawati Devi and Dr. Hetal H. Dave
. Abstract Dysmenorrhea is a medical condition characterized by the presence of severe menstrual cramps that are sufficiently debilitating to disrupt normal daily functioning. Dysmenorrhea is a significant health concern for teenagers in educational settings, as well as healthcare professionals, due to its detrimental impact on daily functioning and overall well-being. Dysmenorrhea, characterized by aberrant anatomical and functional aspects of the uterus, psychological variables, the release of Prostaglandins, and pelvic congestion, is a prevalent gynecological issue experienced by women. Dysmenorrhea has been seen to have a correlation with kashtartava or painful menstruation, as well as other conditions such as Udavartini Yonivyapada, according to Ayurvedic principles. The condition being referred to is Tridoshaj vyadhi with Vata Predominance. The presence of derangement in the Apan and Vyan vayu, combined with the vitiation of Rasa dhatu, can be observed. In contemporary society, women are currently experiencing difficulties associated with a demanding lifestyle, which can lead to imbalanced dietary habits, excessive physical and mental activity, and inadequate nourishment. These factors can contribute to disturbances in the natural menstrual cycle, known as "Rituchakra," and subsequently give rise to numerous health conditions related to menstruation. Ayurveda suggests the implementation of ritucharya and dinacharya, dietary adjustments, and frequent practice of yoga, including asanas, pranayama, and meditation, as helpful measures to treat dysmenorrhea.
