CONCEPTUAL STUDY OF PRAMEHAGHNA DRAVYAS FROM BHAVPRAKASH NIGHANTU ON THE BASIS OF RASADI PROPERTIES AND THEIR DOSHAGHNATA.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a dreadful disease found in all parts of the world and is becoming a serious threat to mankind health. It is estimated that the total number of people with diabetes will rise from 171 million in 2000 to 366 million by 2030. The herbal drugs are now-a day’s playing vital role in drug research in word scenario. Screening of pramehaghna dravyas from Bhavprakash Nighantu can give effective solutions for Prameha. The literary screening concluded that there are about 41 herbal dravya are recommended as pramehaghna, but their specific action is not defined on the basis of their Rasadi properties and doshaghnata. A literary review of the rasa panchaka is done to assess their probable mode of action. Samprapti of prameha shows tridosha dushti, meda and kleda dushti, so the line of the treatment should be ushna ,tikshna, Kleda shoshak and kapha –medohara mainly. The present paper is about to enlist the pramehaghna herbal dravyas mentioned in Bhavprakash Nighantu with their Rasa, Veerya, Vipaka, Guna and karmas for critical analysis, to assess their specific type pramehaghna property.
