EFFECT OF JALOKA (LEECH THERAPY) IN ACNE VULGARIS -A CASE REPORT

Abstract Mukha dushika or Yuvan pidika is a disease which affects 70-80% of adolescents. if we look at the Ayurveda literature, It is one of the kshudra rogas cited in the science of Ayurveda. The commonness of this ailment is enhancing day by day, particularly in the youth and this can be reported to various factors like continuous and prolonged use of oil base cosmetic products, irregular asleep patterns, irregular eating patterns, extreme mental stress, excessive intake of junk food/ fried food. A case study of 23 years old female patient with the complaints of Active acnes, acne scars over either side of face and forehead along with tenderness over site of active acne for 6 months. Treatment chosen for this case is jalokavcharna. After 15 days of treatment, it was noted that there was remarkable relief in active acne, acne scars and spots. There was reduction in number of active acne as well as reduction in the size of these, the hyper pigmentation over the acne spots and scars began to reduce.
