ADVANCES IN NANOSTRUCTURED LIPID CARRIER EMBEDDED TRANSDERMAL PATCHES FOR ANTIFUNGAL THERAPY

Abstract Fungal infections represent a significant global health concern, affecting millions of individuals annually and contributing substantially to morbidity and mortality, particularly among immunocompromised patients. Fungal pathogens such as Candida, Aspergillus, Cryptococcus, and dermatophyte species are responsible for a wide range of superficial, cutaneous, subcutaneous, and systemic infections.[1] The prevalence of fungal diseases has increased considerably over recent decades due to factors such as prolonged antibiotic use, immunosuppressive therapy, organ transplantation, diabetes mellitus, cancer chemotherapy, and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Although superficial fungal infections primarily affect the skin, nails, and mucosal tissues, invasive fungal infections can lead to life-threatening complications with high mortality rates.[2] Keywords: .
