FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF POLYHERBAL LIPSTICK USING NATURAL COLORANTS AND MEDICINAL PLANT EXTRACTS
Rakkimuthu Ramalingam*, Sangeetha Mohanraj, Anandakumar Mohanraj, Sathishkumar Palanisamy, Sowmiya Duraisamy
Abstract The present study successfully demonstrated the formulation and evaluation of a herbal lipstick using ethanol extracts of selected medicinal plants. The lipstick exhibited desirable physical characteristics, including smooth texture, pleasant fragrance, stable color, and excellent water resistance. It maintained a neutral pH and showed no signs of degradation or irritation over a 20-day period. Notably, the formulation displayed strong antioxidant activity (IC₅₀ = 27.8 μg/mL), highlighting its potential therapeutic benefits alongside cosmetic use. These findings support the use of natural plantbased ingredients in safe, effective, and multifunctional cosmetic products, offering a promising alternative to synthetic formulations.
