COSMETIC APPROACH OF VARNA IN AYURVEDA

Abstract

Beauty, attraction of the body mainly depends upon the appearance of many features like skin, hair, nail, lips eyes etc. Varna (skin colour) gives sign of healthy being. Word Varna include colour and complexion, according to Charakacharya, ‘Harsha’ and ‘Sneha’ words indicate that Varna is not just colour but it includes all the parameters of healthy and radiant skin. Mala, Agni, Sarata and Kala also affects the natural colour(Varna) of an individual. Charaka has mentioned Varnya Dashemanithese ten drugs are considered as complexion promoters. in classics role of diet, exercise and rasayana therapy is also explain for healthy Varna. So, review of Varna is taken here as cosmetic approach of Varna in Ayurveda.
