MALNUTRITION IN CHILDREN: AN AYURVEDIC AND MODERN PERSPECTIVE
Dr. Vikram Arun Shelavale*, Dr. Darshana Ramesh Chopade, Dr. Ashwinee Ravindra Mahajan
Abstract Malnutrition remains a major public health concern globally, affecting individuals across all age groups, particularly children and women in developing nations. From the Ayurvedic viewpoint, malnutrition can be correlated with Kshaya, Karshya, or Dhatukshaya, which represent the depletion or improper nourishment of bodily tissues (Dhatus). This article explores the concept of malnutrition through both modern nutritional science and Ayurvedic physiology, focusing on causes, pathophysiology, preventive strategies, and therapeutic approaches, including Ahara, Rasayana, and Panchakarma modalities. By integrating both perspectives, this paper emphasizes the holistic potential of Ayurveda in combating malnutrition effectively. Keywords: Malnutrition, Kshaya, Dhatukshaya, Karshya, Rasayana, Ahara Vidhi, Panchakarma, Ayurveda. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
