GUD-HARITAKI AND JIVANIYA GHRITA IN VATARAKTA: A CONCEPTUAL AND THERAPEUTIC REVIEW
Dr. Pawan Kumar Kirar*, Dr. Dheeraj Kapoor*
Abstract Vatarakta is a disorder arising from simultaneous derangement of Vata dosha and Rakta dhatu. Its management requires interventions that combine Shodhana (purification) and Shamana (pacification). To explore the classical rationale and therapeutic relevance of Gud-Haritaki and Jivaniya Ghrita in the staged management of Vatarakta. Classical Ayurvedic compendia (Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, Astanga Hridaya) were critically examined. Formulations were analyzed through Dravya-Guna attributes including Rasa, Guna, Virya, Vipaka, and Prabhava. Gud-Haritaki demonstrates Amapachana, Anulomana, and Vata-shamana effects, thereby clearing obstructed channels. Jivaniya Ghrita, enriched with Jivaniya Gana herbs, acts as Rasayana and Dhatu-poshana, restoring tissue integrity and vitality. A sequential protocol— initial detoxification with Gud-Haritaki followed by restorative therapy with Jivaniya Ghrita—offers a rational, stage-specific approach to Vatarakta. Keywords: Vatarakta, Gud-Haritaki, Jivaniya Ghrita, Terminalia chebula, Sneha Kalpana. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
