A REVIEW ARTICLE ON RECENT ADVANCES ON CANCER CHEMOTHERAPY

Abstract Cancer remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide, and chemotherapy continues to play a vital role in its treatment. However, traditional chemotherapeutic agents are often associated with severe side effects, lack of selectivity, and the development of drug resistance. In recent years, significant advances have been made in cancer chemotherapy to improve efficacy, reduce toxicity, and enhance patient outcomes. This review highlights the latest developments in chemotherapy, including targeted therapies, immunotherapy, nanotechnologybased drug delivery systems, antibody-drug conjugates, and personalized medicine approaches. These innovations offer new hope in achieving better therapeutic responses while minimizing adverse effects. Despite these advancements, challenges such as high treatment costs, limited accessibility, and resistance mechanisms persist. Continued research and the active role of pharmacists are essential to optimize cancer chemotherapy and ensure its successful implementation in clinical practice.
