FORMULATION AND IN VITRO EVALUATION OF TIZANIDINE HYDROCHLORIDE FLOATING TABLET

Abstract

Floating system or hydrodynamically controlled system are lowdensity systems that have sufficient buoyancy to float over the gastric contents and remain buoyant in the stomach without affecting the gastric emptying rate for a prolonged period of time.In the present investigation, effervescent floating tablets were prepared with HPMC K4M,K15M,K100M andevaluation carried out for different parameters like floating lag time, swelling index and dissolution study.FTIR Study carried out to characterize drug-polymoer interactions. Objective: Tizanidine hydrochloride is a centrally acting alpha2-adrenergic agonist.
