GELUCIRE: A NOVEL TOOL IN FORMULATION OF POORLY SOLUBLE DRUGS
Priyanka D. Dabir* and Poonam Y. Purkar
Abstract The purpose of writing the review on novel lipidic carrier Gelucire was to accumulate the current literature with a special emphasis on its properties and applications that have recently become important in the field of fast as well as sustained/controlled release drug delivery. Efforts have been made in research and development of formulations using this novel tool, particularly in the formulation of solid dispersions of poorly soluble drugs. These nonionic, amphiphilic excipients are widely used in controlled-release matrices for improvement of the physicochemical properties of drug. The review concisely describes the properties and applications of Gelucire along with the relevant literature. Keywords: Gelucire, surfactant, solubility, solid dispersion.
