AMENORRHOEA – AN AYURVEDA PERSPECTIVE

Abstract Amenorrhoea or absence of menstruation itself is not a disease but a symptom of an underlying disorder of female reproductive system. Ayurveda refers to menstruation as Artava or Rajah. The description of amenorrhoea is found under different headings like Anartava, Nashtartava or Artavakshaya. Also physiological and pathological causes of amenorrhoea are available as scattered references.
