Abstract Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a disease affecting male population after the age of 50 years. The prostate gland is a male reproductive organ which physiologically undergoes significant growth during fetal development and puberty. At the end of the puberty prostate gland reaches maturation stage and maintains the same unless benign Prostatic Hyperplasia develops which causes increase in size and weight of the prostate gland after the first five decade of life.
