PHARAMACOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES OF MISHRAKA GANA ACCORDING TO DIFFERENT CLASSICAL AYURVEDIC TEXTS- A LITERARY SURVEY

Abstract The word Mishraka means combination. In the context of Ayurveda this word refers to the combination of the two or more than two drugs. The drugs possessing same qualities and having same therapeutic effects are termed as Mishraka Gana or Mishraka Varga. In other words the term Mishraka means the Samuha or group of drugs. The Mishraka Ganas are classified on the basis of morphology, quality, and pharmacological activity. The present review reveals the various groups of drugs according to different Ayurvedic texts which explain about the therapeutic applications are explained systematically. Here an attempt is made that the scattered Ganas or the Vargas are brought in flat form that one should easily get the references. Further scope of the study is to make available these groups of drugs as per pharmacopeial standards in the market along with clinical trials.
