A FACILE ONE-POT SYNTHESIS OF WEINREB AMIDES FROM CARBOXYLIC ACIDS WITH POCL3

Abstract Conversion of carboxylic acids to Weinreb amides in one pot by using N,O-dimethyl hydroxylamine hydrochloride and phosphorus (V) oxychloride (POCl3) in presence of Hunig’s base in dichloromethane at room temperature in excellent yields. This method demonstrated for sterically hindered carboxylic acids and also various functional groups which are tolerated on the carboxylic acids.
