A REVIEW ON ANTI HIV AGENTS FROM MARINE SOURCES

Abstract HIV infects specific white blood cells by hijacking the CD4 receptor on its surface to gain access to the cell and causes necrosis. HIVinfected patients with weakened immune systems can develop lifethreatening infections. According to UNAIDS there were approximately 36.9 million people worldwide living with HIV/AIDS in 2017. Of these 1.8 million were children.[10] The current review focuses on the marine derived compounds which possess anti HIV activity and which can be studied further for development of new anti viral drugs.
