Abstract

MANAGEMENT OF SWITRA (VITILIGO) IN AYURVEDA â€“ A REVIEW

Abstract

Switra / Vitiligo is a condition where in there is an alteration in the pigmentation of the skin. Switra means spotted deer is Rigveda version. Vitiligo inspite of its non contagious, harmless nature makes life miserable for it produces intence psychological embracement. A number of Herbal, Mineral and Herbo Mineral Formulations are mentioned in various Ayurvedic Classics for healing vitiligo/Switra. Main aim of this review is to focus light on various drugs mentioned in different Samhitas there by evaluating their efficacy by conducting several Pharmaceutical and Clinical Researches.
