Abstract The requirement for delivering drugs to patients efficiently with very less side effects has prompted pharmaceutical industries to be engaged in development of new drug delivery systems. Fast disintegrating tablets (FDTs) have received ever-increasing demand during the last era, and the field has become a rapidly growing area in the pharmaceutical world because they are easy to administer and provide the better patient compliance. FDTs are solid unit dosage forms, which disintegrate or dissolve rapidly in the mouth without chewing and swallowing with water. Other groups also may experience problems in administration of conventional oral dosage forms include the mentally ill, the developmentally disabled, and patients who are not cooperative, on reduced liquid-intake plans, or are nauseated.
