INGUINAL HERNIA RECURRENCE AFTER LICHTENSTEIN PROCEDURE MANAGED BY LAPAROSCOPIC TRANSABDOMINAL PRE-PERITONEAL APPROACH (TAPP) – IS FEASIBLE?

Abstract The choice of surgical technique for inguinal recurred hernia repair is still in debate. Several international guidelines recommend to perform hernioplasty avoiding a second surgical approach in the same field used for the first procedure. However, is not a widely shared recommendation and the chosen approach could be variable according to surgeon’s preferences and experience. We report a case of recurrent inguinal hernia after Lichtenstein procedure successfully managed by laparoscopic transabdominal pre-peritoneal (TAPP) procedure.
