MEDICINAL PLANTS USED IN THE TREATMENT OF SKIN DISEASES

Abstract Human skin, the outer covering of the body, is the largest organ in the body. Skin diseases are numerous and are frequently occurring health problems affecting all the ages from neonates to the elders. Maintaining healthy skin is important for healthy body. Many people may develop skin diseases like cancer, herpes, eczema, psoriasis, urticaria and cellulitis. Natural products are one of the most successful sources of medicine. The use of plants is as old as the mankind. Various parts of the plants possess different pharmacological activities. Natural treatment is cheap and claimed to be safe. The aim of this article is to provide information about pharmacognostic details and parts of the medicinal plants that could be used to treat different skin diseases.
