ROLE OF NARAYANA TAILA NASYA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF KARNANADA: A CASE STUDY

Abstract Tinnitus is a persistent ringing sound in one ear or both ear in the absence of any external cause or stimuli. Although often referred to as ringing in the ear, some affected people hear hissing, roaring, whistling, chirping or clicking. It is more annoying in a quite surroundings, particularly at night, when the masking effect of ambient noise from the environment lost. In Ayurveda it is correlated with Karnanada which is Urdhvajatrugata Roga. According to Sushruta Acharya, when vitiated Vata Dosha taking faulty passage gets located in sound carrying channels then a patient perceives various type of sound; this disease is known as Karnanada. Nasya is the procedure of instilling medicines through the nasal orifices. Nasal orifices are believed to be the entrance of the head. The medicines instilled through them easily penetrates the Shringhataka and spread to the Siras of Shira(head), Netra(eyes), Karna(ears), Kantha(throat), and expels out the impurities. Narayana Taila having Vatashamaka and Brimhana properties are beneficial in Karnanada. Narayana Taila Nasya is best management therapy which can be used to treat the Karnanada.
