Abstract
Objective of the present study is to formulate and evaluate the matrix
tablets of Metformin hydrochloride. Formulations were designed by
using 32 Factorial designs and a total of nine formulations were
prepared (F1-F9). Preformulation tests were performed for
identification of drug and characterization of polymers. Blend of
powders of respective formulations were evaluated for Bulk density,
tapped density, Hausner’s ratio, Carr’s Compressibility index, Angle of
repose. Tablets were prepared by direct compression method and
evaluated for thickness, hardness, friability, weight variations and drug
content. Dissolution studies were performed and percent cumulative
release was found to be satisfactory with 93.14% and formulation was found to be stable at
400C±20C and 75% RH.
