AMOXICILLIN INDUCED ERYTHEMA MULTIFORME: A CASE REPORT

Abstract Background: Erythema multiforme is an uncommon, immune mediated disorder that is presented as cutaneous or mucosal lesion or both. The targetoid lesions, with concentric zones of colour change, represents the characteristic cutaneous findings seen in this disorder. Histopathologic and other investigatins may be used to confirm the diagnosis of EM. Case report: We report a case of Amoxicillin induced Erythema Multiforme in a patient, presented with painful erythematous lesions, over both legs and abdomen. Initially the rash was specifically describe as itching and finally progessed to formation of small nodules, red patches over the abdomen and legs. The condition was managed with fucidic acid cream and betamethasone cream along with cetirizine tablet. Conclusion: This case report emphasize on the treatment of drug incuded EM and prevention of the progression of the disease.
