NEED OF KNOWLEDGE-BASED COUNSELING FOR SPECIAL FORMULATIONS/DEVICES: SOME INTERESTING EXAMPLES

Abstract

Apart from routine counseling, there are formulations like inhalers, kits, rehabilitation aids, devices for Blood Pressure/sugar etc., which need to be explained properly to patients for meaningful discharge of responsibilities under pharmacy practice. This has been observed that In India same is missing due to no. of reasons, leaving patients with a risk of inappropriate use of such special medicines/devices. An effort is made to mention few examples for creating interest and awareness among fellow retail/clinical pharmacy practitioners so that they can make a difference compared to non-pharma counter boy. There is a need to inculcate sense of responsibility for counseling among pharmacist thru various training programs and communications and make them feel proud and earn respect for the profession.
