PREPARATION AND PHARMACEUTICAL STANDARDIZATION OF LAKSHADI LEPA.

Abstract Ayurveda explains about the drug by its different dosage forms. These drugs received by two ways– through by direct rout internally (Abhyanatar kalpana) and another through the surface of the body externally (Bahya kalpana). Lakshadi lepa comes under bhaishajya kalpana mentioned in Bharat Bhaishajya Ratnakara, which is useful for managment of the Darunaka. Laksha (Laccifer Lacca), Karanaja patra (Pongamia Pinnata) and Chakramarda beeja (Cassia Tora) these three are the main ingredients of Lakshadi lepa. Fresh Karanja patra kalka and another two ingrediants i.e Laksha and Chakramarda beeja churna was use to make homogeneous mixture of Lakshadi lepa. In this mixture all three ingredients were taken in samapramanas as per reference of ayurvedic text. Therefore in this study we prepared Lakshadi lepa and summarised the physico–chemical analysis by the parameters. Keywords: Lakshadi lepa, preparation, standardization.
