Abstract

COMPARATIVE STUDY OF SOME MARKETED SUNCREAM FORMULATION AS AN ANTISOLAR ACTIVITY

Mrs. Sunita J. Deshpande*

Abstract

Nanotechnology has its application in cosmetics, as the size of nanoparticles is very small, they have ray absorption properties. Hence nano-particles are used in production of cosmetics. Due to nano size, cosmetics have uniform and smooth appearance on the skin. Nanobased dyes, colours and cosmetics are available in the market, which are safe to use. Risk of harmful effects due to exposure of UV radiations is increasing day by day, with increase in pollution, which causes depletion in ozone layer, thus UV protective products are becoming essential commodity of life. The present study was designed to evaluate the comparative UV absorption of nano tech prepared marketed samples as an anti-solar agent. The method was performed by UV visible spectrophotometry in range of 200-400 nm. Neutrogena ultra sheer formulation showed better absorbance of 5.02928 with λmax at 219 nm and λmax at 278nm with absorbance of 4.3958 as compared with other marketed sample. The findings suggested that Neutrogena ultra sheer formulation exhibited as a better anti-solar activity than that of other.

Keywords: Marketed sunscreen formulations, antisolar, pH, Conductivity, UV spectrometer.
