Abstract

MITIGATING COVID-19 WITH AYURVEDA’S RASA SHASTRA VIJANAN

Dr. Divya Chauhan*, Dr. Palak Arora and Dr. Shruti Chaudhary

Abstract

The infectious disease caused by the newly discovered Coronavirus in Dec 2019 has hit the world as a serious pandemic. This zoonotic disease with symptoms such as fever, dry cough, aches & pains can be considered as the mirror image of Ayurveda's age-old mentioned "Shleshma krimi". Some other symptoms of Coronavirus such as diarrhea, drowsiness & tiredness can be correlated to that of Jangam visha lakshanas. The Herbo-mineral knowledge or Rasa Shastra of Ayurveda science has mentioned the use of drugs like sanjeevani Vati, jayamangala rasa, Shweta parpati , tribhuvan kirti rasa which if needed can be administered irrespective of the body constitution or Prakriti, the severity of vitiated doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), time, location, and season in emergencies wherein a quick assessment, analysis of the disease symptoms and logic is applied as these drugs have the capacity of fighting jangama vish or this zoonotic coronavirus. These are the principles aptly connected to analyzing the strategies of not only preventing but also mitigating the disease caused by a coronavirus. Coronavirus also causes repeated peripheral stimulus that has created a state of central hypersensitivity linked to other bodily functions in complex ways causing symptoms like cough & sneezing thus probably infecting the brain region responsible for taste and smell providing early signs, signaling for self-quarantine, as a method of selfdiagnosis. Ayurveda's Rasa aushadhi is known to have a particle size so small that it may reach the brain tissue, which makes them more potent and quicker in action as compared to other medicines or drugs.

Keywords: Coronavirus, Shleshma-krimi, Jangama-Visha, Sanjeevani Vati, Jayamangala Ras, Shweta Parpati & Tribhuvankirti Rasa.
