A REVIEW ON INDIAN TRADITIONAL HERB MURRAYA KOENIGII IT’S NUTRITIVE & MEDICINAL PROPERTIES IN HUMAN HEALTH MANAGEMENT

Abstract
Murraya koenigii is a culinary important plant of Indian origin, and
also been a component of many formulations used in the Ayurvedic
system of medicine since many centuries. This review article describes
the medicinal & nutritive importance of the Murraya koenigii. The
therapeutic value of Murraya koenigii extract for the various diseases
with its other pharmacognostic features such as morphology, growth
constraints, biochemical composition and biological activities. A
scrutiny of literature reveals some notable pharmacological activities
of the plant such as antidiabetic, anticancer, antibacterial, antinociceptive
and antioxidant activities. Medicinal plants or their
bioactive compounds have been utilized by developing countries for primary and traditional
healthcare system since very long period of time. In several ancient systems of medicine
including Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani, Murraya koenigii. A medicinally important herb
from mainly therapeutic applications such as in bronchial disorders, piles, vomiting, skin
diseases etc. Phytochemistry and pharmacology of this plant necessitates a comprehensive
review of its prospects as an important therapeutic agent for the management of numerous
diseases commonly affecting humans.
