ASSESSMENT OF COMPLICATIONS IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE UNDERGOING HEMODIALYSIS

Abstract
Background: Chronic kidney disease is the major health problem
affecting approximately 13% united state population and Indian
scenario approximate 800 per million case was reported due to diabetes
and cardiovascular disease. Hemodialysis is a process used for
eliminate the extracorporeal materials from the blood; process of
hemodialysis; patient’s blood pass through a semipermeable membrane
and the dialysis fluid pass through other sides. despites its benefits to
patients, hemodialysis involve different types of major and minor
complications related elimination process. Objective: to evaluate the
complications associated with hemodialysis. Materials & Method: A
prospective observational study of six month conducted in the
nephrology department with n= 81 patients. A systematic protocol followed to obtain
permission to IEC by submitting a proper protocol, data collection form, patient information
and consent form and evaluated biomedical literature and articles. Results: In our study of 81
CKD patients; males were 59.25% and females were 40.74%. patients falls under the age
group 41-60 years it was observed that Out of 81 CKD patients hypertension found in males
were 42(51.85%) in females 27(33.33%), Anemia found in males 48(59.25%) in females
33(40.74%) patients. Conclusion: It was conclude that complications occurred in patients
during the hemodialysis process.
