MANAGEMENT OF AVASCULAR NECROSIS OF FEMORAL HEAD (AVNFH) WSR UBHAYASHRITA VATRAKTA - A CASE STUDY

Abstract
Avascular necrosis of the femoral head (AVNFH) is a debilitating
disease caused due to impaired blood supply to the head of femur, it
results bone necrosis and collapse. In Ayurveda although there is no
specific terminology and clinical entity described as such but the
clinical manifestation and pathogenesis of this disease resembles with
ubhayashrita vatrakta. A case reported in our hospital complaining
pain in bilateral hip joint was diagnosed with AVN of femoral head.
Treatment was given at IPD level as per the Ayurveda principles.
Administration of basti is the best treatment modality in such case this
Conservative management of AVN through Ayurvedic principles
provides significant relief in pain, improves quality of life and prevents
further progression of disease.
