Abstract Vision gets severely affected if the pathology is present in retina as it is responsible for both photopic and scotopic vision. Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) is one of the idiopathic disorder of retina characterized by localized serous detachment of sensory retina at the macula. Though the disease is self limiting but due to recurrence and severity it may lead to permanent vision loss. In modern medical ophthalmology Anti VEGF injections, Intravitreal Triamicinolone and Photocoagulation are advised in this case. CSCR can be correlated with Dhoomdarshi on the basis of clinical presentation of the disease. A patient presented with chief complaint of blurred vision in both eyes, more in right eye since 10 days. After examination patient was diagnosed with idiopathic CSCR. In OCT, a serous detachment of 295 mm thick area was observed in the macular area in the right eye. Best corrected vision at the time of first visit was +0.50 in the right eye and vision of left eye was 6/6. Ayurvedic treatment starting with Aam Pachana chikitsa followed by Shothahara & Rakta Pitta Nashaka Chikitsa (i.e. Gokshuradi guggulu, Vasaguduchyadi kwath, Punarnavashtaka Kwath) was administered for the duration of 2 months. Exceptional improvement was seen in vision of right eye & there was also improvement in neurosensory retinal detachment. Aim of this study is to enlighten the efficacy of Ayurvedic therapeutics management in improving vision as well as improving the anatomical disturbance occurring in the form of retinal detachment in the macula. Keywords: Central serous chorioretinopathy(CSCR), Dhoomdarshi, Gokshuradi guggulu, Vasaguduchyadi Kwath, Punarnavashtaka Kwath. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
