OCCURANCE OF HEMOLYTIC ANEMIA IN A PATIENT WITH LOWER LOBE PNEUMONIA – A CASE REPORT

Abstract A case on hemolytic anemia with lower respiratory tract infection represented by a 19-year-old female patient, who was admitted into the hospital, with pain in the abdomen for the past 1 month along with complaints of fever and cough (last 2 weeks) and 2-3 episodes of vomiting for 2 days. On chest auscultation, wheezing and interscapular crepitations were present. Her physical finding showcased fatigue and paleness. Chest X-ray revealed pneumonia and on differential diagnosis, she was also having hemolytic anemia. Coomb’s test and mycoplasma IgM antibodies were negative. This case explains the treatment modalities for rare occurrence of hemolytic anemia with severe lower respiratory tract infection with pulmonary involvement in the absence of mycoplasma infection.
