Abstract

UNDERSTANDING OF JALODAR W.S.R. TO ASCITES

Abstract

In Ayurveda samhita’s eight type of udar-roga. In which one type of udar-roga is jalodar. In modern science jalodar can be correlate with ascites. Ascites is accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity that exceeds 25ml.[1] most common manifestation of liver dysfunction is ascites and most common cause of ascites is liver disorders. It is important to diagnosed the cause of ascites. The development of ascites carries a significant worsening the prognosis. Mild to moderate should be managed by modest salt restriction and diuretic therapy. Gross ascites should be treated with therapeutic presentences followed by colloid volume expansion and diuretic therapy. In Ayurveda main cause of udar-roga is mandagni(low fire), doshati sanchaya(collection of toxin substance in body) and pap-karma(bad habit).[2] Jalodara among tridosha and prakupita vata takes aasrya in udara between twak and mamsa, leading to sotha.[3] For jalodra treatment ‘nityam ev virechnam’ and some other oral ayurvedic medications are used for dosha suddhi.
