A CRITICAL REVIEW: BALTISARA AND ITS MANAGEMENT ACCORDING TO AYURVEDA

Abstract Atisara is a common ailment of the current era which may be due to irregular and unhealthy habits relating to Ahara and Vihara. Atisar explained in Ayurveda can be correlated to diarrhea, where Ati means excess & Saranam means flow; condition where watery stools passed in excess with high speed. Atisara is a disease of intestinal disturbances; involves water & electrolyte imbalances, malnutrition. Atisara not only affects health of children but is also considered responsible for infant mortality especially in tropical and sub-tropical countries As per ayurveda Atisar can be classified into seven category; Vataja, Pittaja, Kaphaja, Bhayaja, Tridoshaja, Shokaja and Raktatisara. The Balatisara affects large number of population worldwide and prevalence of diarrhea now a day’s deteriorating school performance of many children.
