Sonali P. Pagar*, Harish B. Kale, Rajendra K. Surawase, Dipika Pawar and Sonam Bhamare
Abstract Recently development of controlled drug delivery system in which osmotic drug delivery system is most promising and major achieving controlled drug release. It is most reliable drug delivery system having many advantages. The most disadvantages correlated with conventional drug delivery system is unpredictable plasma concentrations. Because the fastest drug releases in conventional drug delivery system they almost uncontrolled on the release of drug and does not maintain the effective concentration at target site. The main advantage of ODDS is the release of drug from ODDS is not affected by physiological factors. The process of ODDS follows the basic principle of osmosis. The ODDS release the drug at controlled pattern which follows the zero-order rate. In the present study we included the overview on CPOP, advantages and disadvantages, their historical backgrounds and their marketed products. Keywords: .
