“ROLE OF RAJAH PRAVARTINI VATI ON ARTAVA KSHAYA W.S.R OLIGOMENORRHOEA.â€- A REVIEW OF LITERATURE

Abstract Oligomenorrhoea is defined as light or infrequent menstruation by most medical dictionaries. Hypomenorrhoea is defined as uterine bleeding slight in amount, short in duration or both. It has been seen in gynecological practice that patient with Artava Kshaya may be associated with the oligomenorrhoea. The incidence of Artava Kshaya is increasing day by day due to present lifestyle, food habits, increased stress & strain. It is seen in approximately 50% of patients. According to modern science the treatment of Artava Kshaya is hormonal therapy like combination of oestrogen and progesterone which have their own side effects. To minimize these complications an attempt is made to find solution to disease and prohibit the occurrence of disease. In ayurvedic classics most of the menstrual disorders have been described under the heading of Artavadushti. Ksina (scanty) Artavadushti is one of the types of Ashtaartavadushti.
