GUDABHRAMSHA IN CHILDREN W.S.R.TO RECTAL PROLAPSE- A LITERARY REVIEW

Abstract Rectal prolapse, though a rare condition, still is a rational and troublesome problem in society. Peak age of onset is at 1-2.5 yr. It is most common from 3-5 years of age and usually first detected by the child‟s parents. The cause of rectal prolapse is idiopathic. Onset after the age of 5 years is unusual because sacrum has taken its more adult shape and the anal lumen is oriented posteriorly. Gudabhramsha described as rectal prolapse by modern medical science. As the disease is caused in the anal area therefore the shyness and hesitancy is the main cause of its ignorance. In initial stage, the disease appears simple and parents try to manage at own level. In this review article efforts have been made to analyze description of Gudabhramsha Ayurvedic & modern literature, medicinal treatment for bypass of surgical and anesthetic complications and for opting an optimal treatment.
