DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF POLY HERBAL MOSQUITO REPELLENT CREAM FROM MARIGOLD FLOWER

Abstract Herbal products are obtained by different processes such as treating herb by squeezing, roasting, steaming, decocting or infusing in water, or extracting with the help of alcohol can give herbal product such as tinctures, juices, gums, fixed oils, essential oils, resins, decoctions and infusions. The proposed work was aimed to develop polyherbal mosquito repellent cream by extracting active constituents from their biological sources of plants having mosquito repellent activity such as Marigold, Citronella, Mentha, etc. Polyherbal mosquito repellent formulations are belief to be much safer and have very less side effect in comparison to other synthetic chemical preparations. The polyherbal cream was successfully developed and evaluated for topical administration, topical administration is the most preferable and effective route, as it gives better repellent activity on topical application. The cream was developed and evaluated for physical appearance, to determine pH, retention time on skin and repellent activity for mosquitoes.
