A CRITICAL REVIEW ON LEPA KALPANA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO MUKHA LEPA

Abstract The medicament which is used for external application purpose is known as Lepa. Acharya Sharangdhar in described about Lepa in various types of skin disorder and no description of lepa kalpana in modern science also, Lepa Kalpna can be co-related to the branch of cosmetology. Here lepa kalpana is not only used in diseased condition but also for attractive external appearance which was very trending now a days because everyone wants to be beautiful. The herbal paste which is applied on face to treat acne, pimples, scars, marks and pigments are known as ‘Mukha Lepa’ (face pack) in Ayurveda. Mukhalepa is a simple and effective skin care treatment in Ayurveda, That’s why this approach has drawn my attention toward discussing about various types of Lepa which was beneficial in not only for health purpose but also for self-beautification having no side-effect.
