A REVIEW ON THE ROLE OF SUTSHEKHAR RASA AS A EFFECTIVE AYURVEDIC FORMULATION FOR AMALPITTA

Abstract

In the present time Amlapitta is very common problem affecting majority of population. Amlapitta is one of the commonest condition, of Annavahastrotas (gastro-intestinal tract) caused by vitiated Agni. Sutshekhar ras is one of them and effectively use for Amlapitta. Ingrediants of Sutshekhar ras are Parad, Gandgak, Dhatura, Shank bhasam, Vatasnabha, Trikatu, Chaturjat, Tankan and Tambra bhasma. It is mentioned in Amlaptta Rogadhikar in Yog Ratnakar. This preparation is indicated in Amlapitta, Gulma, Mandagni, Tridoshaj Atisara, Daha Rogas (burning sensation). In the present review an attempt has been made to understand the possible mode of action of Sutshekhar ras an Amlapitta shamak.
