'A REVIEW OF THE EFFICACY OF LASHUNADI VATI IN GASTROINTESTINAL DISORDERS'

Abstract
In the Ayurvedic texts, Gastrointestinal disorders are explained in
various chapters under different headings. The Annavaha srotas and
Purishavaha srotas can be correlated with the gastrointestinal system in
the body. Therefore, the disorders of the gastrointestinal system are
mainly the disorders occurring in the Annavaha and Purishavaha
srotas. These disorders occur due to Agnimandya and due to formation
of Ama in the body. Hence, the main aim of treatment of
gastrointestinal disorders is to improve Agni (digestive fire),
elimination of Ama and to establish the equilibrium of Tridoshas in the
body. For this, Deepana, Paachana, Anulomana, and Shoolahara drugs
are administered. Lashunadi vati‟ given in the textbook „Ayurved saar
sangraha is one such Ayurvedic medicine known for its excellent benefits in relieving the
symptoms of the gastrointestinal system. This article elaborates the action and reviews the
efficacy of Lashunadi vati in the ailments of gastrointestinal system.
