Abstract
The aim of the current study is to gauge the anti-anaemic activity of
hydro alcoholic fruits extract of Allium Tricoccum against phenyl
hydrazine evoked anaemic rats. The anaemia was evoked in rats by the
administration of phenyl hydrazine (10 mg /kg) intraperitoneal for
two days. The animals were divided into five different cluster of 6
animals each. Cluster I served as traditional management, Cluster II as
anaemic management, Cluster III as management administered with
vitamin B and Cluster IV animals were treated with 100 mg /kg,
Cluster V animals were treated with 200 mg/kg, of hydro alcoholic
fruits extract of Allium Tricoccum. All the test drugs and standard
drugs were administered once daily for twenty eight days through oral route. On twenty
ninth day blood was withdrawn, through sinus puncture underneath Luminal anaesthesia and
subjected to the estimation of erythrocyte, haemoglobin and proportion Haematocrit. Each
the hydro alcoholic fruits extract of Allium Tricoccum and vitamin B12 considerably
redoubled the erythrocyte, haemoglobin and Haematocrit levels that conclude the, Allium
Tricoccum fruit extract exhibits anti-anaemic activity.
Keywords: Anaemia, anti-anaemic activity, hydro alcoholic extract, Allium Tricoccum, Vit. B12.
